Healthy Communities in the Macleay Valley is funded by the Department of Health and Ageing, and aims to assist people to improve their health and quality of life through free exercise programs, healthy eating workshops and the installation of outdoor exercise equipment.
The project is aimed at supporting people to improve their health and well-being and then provides the necessary environment for that to occur. Programs and activities are offered across the Shire with programs concluding in May 2014.

Application for programs is made through Expressions of Interest in the following ways:
- by completing the Expression of Interest in the Happynings
- by phoning and requesting an Expression of Interest form
- picking up an Expression of Interest form at Council’s Customer Service Centre at 22 Tozer Street, West Kempsey
