Healthy Communities – Macleay Valley

Healthy Communities in the Macleay Valley has been funded by the Australian Government and is being delivered through Kempsey Shire Council.  The initiative aims to improve the health of residents by increasing their levels of exercise and improving nutrition. These outcomes are being achieved through the provision of free exercise and lifestyle education programs, healthy eating programs, community infrastructure, food growing programs and by increasing the capacity of the community to maintain a healthy life longer term. www.kempsey.nsw.gov.au/healthy

Mid North Coast Local Health District

Mid North Coast Local Health District (MNCLHD) covers an area of 11,335 square kilometres extending from Port Macquarie Hastings Local Government Area in the south to Coffs Harbour Local Government Area in the north.

MNCLHD provides quality health care at public hospitals in Bellingen, Coffs Harbour, Dorrigo, Kempsey, Macksville, Port Macquarie and Wauchope.

There are 10 Community Health Centres in the District which are located at Bellingen, Camden Haven, Coffs Harbour, Dorrigo, Kempsey, Macksville, Port Macquarie, South West Rocks, Wauchope and Woolgoolga.

The Mid North Coast has one of the fastest growing and ageing populations within NSW, with MNCLHD providing a diverse range of services to a population of around 215,000.

North Coast Primary Health Network (NCPHN) is responsible for increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of health services on the North Coast. Northern NSW Local Health District

The Northern NSW Local Health District (NNSW LHD) covers an area of 20,732 square kilometres, extending from the Tweed LGA in the north to the Clarence Valley in the south.  With 11 Hospitals and three Multipurpose Services, it provides an extensive range of primary and secondary specialist services to a population of around 280,000 people.

Local decision-making is at the forefront of the organisation, led by a professional 12-member Health District Board, chaired by Dr Brian Pezzutti, and the NNSW LHD Chief Executive, Mr Chris Crawford.

Southern Cross University School of Health and Human Sciences

Southern Cross University (SCU) celebrates 20 years in 2014 with an expanding presence at its Australian east coast campuses and a growing research profile. The University is committed to innovation and excellence in teaching and research.
